3. Rev. Borghardt talked about the joy of becoming a believer in Jesus. He told of the eternal life, and salvation you will receive once becoming a Christain and that you have to do nothing to receive these wonderful gifts. He also explains that we go to Heaven once our worldly bodies die. All of this is referred to as the Gospel. On the other hand, Edwards theme in his sermon is to make the people fear God. He does this by making it sound like God is an angry God and we have to follow the Law perfectly to receive His salvation.
I think you got the main point of both the sermons. Rev. Borghardt had the good point of view and Edwards sermon took the bad point of view which you pointed out in your blog, which i think is vital
ReplyDeleteI like your point about Edwards making God sound like an angry God. It shows Edwards' purpose towards converting people very well.
ReplyDeleteYour point when you say Edwards was trying to make people God was accurate. It pretty much sums up Edwards sermon.
ReplyDeleteBoth are great valid points on these people. Your post on Edwards' sermon is very well done.
ReplyDeleteI found the title very creative.
ReplyDeleteI also liked how you wrote about the gospel between the two sermons.
